WOMEN'S COUNCIL

The Women’s Council of the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation was founded shortly after Verdugo Hills Hospital opened its doors in 1972. The Women’s Council formally began June 20, 1973, with more than 200 members meeting for a garden champagne brunch at the home of Sue Lindstrom.

The overriding purpose of the Women’s Council is to promote and advance the welfare of Verdugo Hills Hospital, its staff and patients through public relations and fundraising activities. Council members accomplish this through special projects and major fundraising events.

Since its founding, the Women’s Council has raised nearly $2.5 million for hospital programs and services, making the council a vital part of the Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation team.

On Friday evening, July 28, 2006, Montrose wine and cheese boutique Goudas and Vines was brimming with energy and good cheer as the Women’s Council, thanks to Special Events Chairs Kate Kaneko and Suzonne Slaughter, enjoyed a wonderful night of wine tasting, friendship and conversation. With more than 40 in attendance, the participants learned about, and experienced, some fantastic wines, accompanied by delectable hors d’oeuvres and friends. It was a delightful event enjoyed by all.
